Description

These undated photos are of the superintendent's cottage, a bungalow on the grounds of the sanatorium. The cottage was home to Dr. Baker and his family; his wife, Maud and their two daughters, Mary and Martha.

In the first photo, the cottage is shown south of the administration building. Although reference to a Shawnee, Oklahoma architect is shown on the photo, the architect has not been identified.

In the second photo, the cottage's most unusual architectural detail is the brick pillars penetrating through the roofline. Today, the superintendent's cottage is still situated between the Harper building and the hospital, but it is almost unrecognizable since the porch was enclosed decades ago, the wood clapboard replaced by a brick facade, and the direction of the entry changed from east to north.
